Caring for Your Sensitive Skin

2

You see a new brand out in the market and the next thing you know, you’re buying every product imaginable. Then, you realize that you can’t use it because your skin breaks out soon after. Well, this means that you have sensitive skin. Your skin is a lot less tolerant than usual because you don’t react well to products that are otherwise okay for others. If you have sensitive skin, you main goal would be to take care of yourself at all times. Here are just a few signs of sensitive skin:

- There are a lot of products that don’t seem to suit you
- You easily get rashes and red spots when you borrow certain products from friends who seem to be okay with it
- You often get dry flaky skin
- You get a tight feeling after you use a certain facial wash
- During extreme weather conditions, your skin turns red or blotchy

If you experience more than two of these symptoms, then you definitely have sensitive skin. Therefore, you shouldn’t go around experimenting with random skin care products. You need to be careful with your choices, but you better be ready to test out several products first before you can even find the right one. Nonetheless, knowing what your skin needs shouldn’t be too difficult. Here are tips to help fast-forward your search:

- Know your skin type so that you can determine what type of product you should be using
- Ask your dermatologist or doctor if you need help with certain brands

- Look for oil-control products and anti-aging creams that are specifically formulated for people with sensitive skin.
- Read the labels first so you’ll know how it works for you and how you should be using it
- Never buy products that have fragrances and colorants on its list of ingredients
- The clearer or whiter the product, the better it will be for you
- Since sensitive skin is easily irritated, look for products with licorine.

Licorine reduces the redness and alleviates the tight feeling you get as soon as your skin starts to get irritated. You will soon discover that these products are the mildest and safest. Your skin won’t break out, as the case usually is for you. Most importantly, once you find the perfect one for you, be loyal to the brand unless your dermatologist recommends an even better one. Don’t be tempted to try that new product you see in magazines. These are made to look nicer for advertising purposes, that’s all there is to it.

Once you know your true match when it comes to skin care, show how much you value your skin by sticking to it. Sensitive skin requires more work than usual, and with the harsh toxins around the environment, you can’t afford to be careless. Remember, you always want to look and feel good, and this is only possible when you are mindful of what you put on. And if there are any new products you may want to try out, test it on a small patch of your skin before you make the decision to buy.
