The Magic of Self-Appreciation
Perhaps you think that your face is too round or you’re not quite smart enough, but you shouldn’t let these things get you down. Celebrate your uniqueness and be proud of what you were born with. Of course, this isn’t to say that you shouldn’t do anything about it and that you just learn to leave the things you don’t like. Rather than sulking, be proactive about change, but while you’re a work in progress, you can start feeling good of the fact that you’re finally taking control of your life.
Believe that you can achieve and never lose hope. It doesn’t matter if you may not be the brightest bulb in the Christmas tree or if you have the most difficult time running. There are still a lot of things you can do that other people can’t. There are some things that are second-nature to you and while others put all their efforts into doing it, that ability just comes out naturally for you. So, have faith in your talents and trust that they’ll be put to good use some day. See yourself as an individual who is courageous, capable, and decisive. You have the power and the inner resources to mold and shape the course of what could be the best life that you live.
Stop putting the blame on yourself and on others as well. When something unfavorable happens to you, blaming yourself is the last thing you’ll ever want to do or you should do. So what if you lost your job? Others are exactly in the same boat. The most important element in self-esteem is your perception. The same circumstances produce different reactions depending on that individual’s level of self-esteem. So, see this supposedly negative glitch as a learning experience that will help you move forward sooner. Plus, you won’t achieve much when you keep pointing a finger on yourself or on the people around you. It’s simply unhealthy and that kind of attitude will make you fall eventually.
Knock out negativity and try to live life seeing the silver lining behind every dark cloud. Sure, there will always be some people who’ll say bad things or talk about you when you’re not around, by you shouldn’t even give these people your time of day. Surround yourself with true friends, people who tell you immediately what went wrong, and who’ll say it to your face because they just want what’s best for you. Loving yourself means knowing how great you are and not letting any person, any place, or anything ever get in the way of that. As long as you know that you’re doing what is right and you’re not hurting anyone, then by all means, let your true self shine brighter than ever.
Sometimes, tooting your own horn is a savvy move. When done in a subtle way, you’ll project confidence and seem extra attractive. So, the next time you go out, put the spotlight on you by showing pride in anything you talk about. People are drawn to those who are genuine and who take ownership of their talents. Be true to yourself and don’t forget to also make people feel good about who they are.
