Stop Lounging Around

0

There are times when it feels great to just do nothing. We’d rather stay in bed and stop thinking about all the things we have yet to accomplish. We keep telling ourselves that we can always do things tomorrow. But why do we say that when we can always do something about it today? We keep pushing back our work so that we have more time to rest. If we’ve been working like a dog, then we certainly deserve this. Sadly, others just do this as a way to get out of work. There are actually people who thrive on doing nothing. Well, at least nothing productive. Sleep is what they want, and they’d rather live in a place where morphine and anesthesia run abound. Well, sleep is for the dead!

These people thrive on laziness and are happy not amounting to much. As for us, we’ve all been guilty of it at one point or another. Even the most successful have their days. We may have tons of things to complete but we keep telling ourselves to just do it later. We relentlessly make excuses because we sometimes feel that we weren’t built to accomplish anything significant. Then, we look inside and realize that maybe it’s insecurity that’s been stopping us to do more than what is expected. We’d rather say that we’ve never tried at all than commit mistakes. Then again, these are all just lame excuses!

When we keep pushing things further, we are letting procrastination rule over our entire lives. Well, there’s no one to blame but ourselves. There are so many excuses available just so we could avoid work. But after a while, these excuses get stale. We can only listen to them for so long. People will eventually perceive us to be someone extremely unreliable.

Whether these excuses are real or not, problems can always be resolved. There is a solution to everything, and we owe it to ourselves to find it. Thinking long-term helps us to see things in better perspective. We can always take that power back and be once again in control of our lives. We have to start making the changes this very instant. After, we need to understand why we always justify our irresponsible choices. The workload may overwhelm us, but giving up is never the course of action. We just have to think that there are millions out there who are experiencing the same situation that we are in. The difference is, these people have successfully overcome their weaknesses. But then again, so can we.

When we feel the weight of all our responsibilities, we need to remember that all we have to do them one at a time. After that, the others follow. This happens only when we’ve successfully tackled the first one. Eventually, we’ll realize that we’ve done quite a lot when we add them all up. Imagine if we really put our effort into it, we can change our lives even a little bit. It’s important to consider the bigger picture. There may still be some things that we wouldn’t want to do but we have to know that we’re still meant to do it.
