The Real Truth behind Lifting Weights
People often don’t like lifting weights because they think they’ll look like a wrestler. Girls, in particular, often just stick to cardio exercises because they don’t like looking too buff or too muscled. Well, they can’t be further from the truth if they thought this way. Lifting those dumbbells gives you an edge over the other gym enthusiasts and it may be time to add this to your regimen. You won’t buff up and look beefy. Not at all! Just listen to what your instructor says and you’ll see your body lose a few inches. Your arms and legs will look more toned. Aside from that, you’ll see a bid difference in the way your body metabolizes those extra calories.
If you add weight lifting into your routine, you actually lose 40 percent more weight than usual. This is especially good for your self-esteem. You work hard to look good, and sometimes, you lose heart because you just don’t see the results fast enough. Cardio isn’t the way to blast that belly fat. Yes, you will lose weight and maybe gain some muscles. However, you won’t be able to achieve your full potential if you just do this. As you lift, you’ll lose fat and gain muscles, and as research has proven, this is better for maintaining the weight you’ve already lost. Plus, you’re less likely to gain even when you go on a break. Just don’t forget to give your body time to heal as well. Don’t be a gym rat and spend every day of the week exercising. Go easy and just set aside three or four days a week to do this.
Moreover, lifting weights make you fit into your clothes better. That’s because you won’t have flabby skin peeking out. Over time, fat won’t take over the rest of your body. It’s all about sticking to your guns and making sure that you always incorporate exercise into your routine. That way, you won’t ever have to worry about gaining all the inches back. Each strength exercise allows your muscles to work harder to repair the damaged fibers. Aside from that, you get a better burn as well. You can burn hundreds of calories within just an hour. In fact, it’s tantamount to running ten miles in one hour. That’s a lot considering that you’re just working on those intense isolation exercises.
But what makes exercising really great is the fact that you will eat much better as well. This has a lot to do with you thinking that you’ve already worked so hard for what you have. You just can’t throw away those hours spent in the gym just to give in to temptation. When you’re about to sneak in a midnight snack, you suddenly remember your tired muscles and what you went through. This keeps you in check. More often, you opt to buy those healthy treats just in case you hear your stomach grumble. So, don’t think lifting weights is bad. In fact, this can be the very thing that gets you to look good.
