Create Your Own Charisma
It happens all the time. You walk in a bar and some people just flock to others just like bees to honey. How does that happen? You dress yourself to the hilt and try to look your best, but it seems as if some people were born with that charm. Many say that you can’t teach charisma. Not true. Because you can be just as attractive. Just remember that it comes from within. You won’t be attractive if you don’t feel like you are. Work on your charm because this is one trait that will get you far. In fact, you’ll be better at persuading others if you exude that certain X factor.
First of all, you have to get rid of all your fears. Don’t be afraid of humiliation or rejection. Yes, these are things that you’re most afraid of, but when you’re insecure, you bring these on all on yourself. You somehow preempt how others will react and in truth, people will sense that. They won’t want to approach you because you somehow let them feel welcome. Just don’t know that there’s also a big difference between confidence and assertiveness. Before you open your mouth and ask someone for a big favor, check what you’ll have to say at first. You’ll come off as more self-assured if you already know what you’re about to say. If you aren’t really sure of what to say, ask a friend to listen to your spiel and take in the advice given. That way, you also have a more objective person telling what’s right and what isn’t.
Before you can become a confident person, you also have to realize that you do have weaknesses. Know what these are and learn to work on them. This might sound like self-sabotage, but in truth, this is a way for you to realize what others don’t like in you. Remember, you’re working on improving yourself. While you can’t control how others think, you certainly can do something about yourself. So, acknowledge your weak points and look for ways to hide these by playing up your strengths. If you can change something negative about you, then go ahead and do so. A simple tweak already goes a long, long way.
Lastly, celebrate who you are as a person. You are unique and there are things about you to love. Just ask the people who love you because they can tell you the many great things that attract them to you. Sometimes, you just need someone to remind you that you have so many things you can be proud of. And as special as you are, you also need to meet others halfway. Learn the value of compromise without truly losing your identity. It helps to realize that the world doesn’t revolve around you, but then again, you can also make things work for you by being genuinely nice. So, own up to who you are and be confident because while everybody may be plagued with insecurities, you can also take pride on your accomplishments. When you are able to do this, just see how much your confidence levels go up.
